New project “Coastal Outdoor Life for Food Professionals,” launching in January 2026

The project aims to strengthen the coastal outdoor life, knowledge, and connection to nature of future food professionals through hands-on instruction in seaweed foraging along the coast.

At five vocational schools across the country, we will take teaching out into nature and create new learning spaces that link ingredients, sustainability, and culinary expertise. The goal is to increase students’ interest in outdoor life, enhance their understanding of nature, improve well-being, and motivate them to use seaweed responsibly in their future careers.

We look forward to getting started and inviting students all the way out to the coast, where flavor, professionalism, and nature come together. With the sea as a classroom and seaweed as an ingredient, the project will leave a lasting impact on future food professionals’ understanding of sustainability, outdoor life, and the coastal pantry.
